Information you provide directly

• Account info: Name, email address, and password (managed securely via Clerk).
• Renter profile: Employment information, income, rental history, move-in preferences, pet ownership, and any verification data you choose to add.
• Listing info (landlords): Property address, photos, rent, contact details, and lease terms.
• Applications: Messages you send to landlords through the apply system.
• Payment info: Billing and payment data is collected and stored by Stripe, not by us. We only receive tokens and subscription status.
• Communications: Messages sent through our contact form or support email.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: Pages visited, search queries, listings viewed, time on site.
• Device info: Browser type, operating system, IP address, and screen resolution.
• Cookies: Session cookies for authentication, preference cookies, and analytics cookies (see Section 6).

Information from third parties

• Listing data: Property address and listing details sourced from national real estate data feeds and public housing programs. This data is matched to publicly available records.
• Screening reports: If you request a background/credit check through SmartMove, their data practices apply. We receive report summaries as authorized by the tenant.

• Operate and improve the RentalNoodle platform — search, listings, applications, management tools.
• Authenticate your identity and maintain account security (via Clerk).
• Process payments and manage subscriptions (via Stripe).
• Send transactional emails: application notifications, lease updates, rent reminders, and account alerts (via Resend).
• Send saved-search alert emails when new listings match your criteria (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• Display your renter profile to landlords when you apply to a listing.
• Notify landlords of rental applications and inquiries — including forwarding your contact info to the listing landlord.
• Generate analytics to understand how the platform is used and improve the product.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We share your information only in these circumstances:

• With landlords / property managers: When you apply to a listing, your name, email, renter profile, and message are shared with the listing owner. If the landlord has not yet claimed a listing, we may send them an email with your application details and a link to claim the property.
• Service providers: We use vetted third-party providers who process data on our behalf: Clerk (auth), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Vercel (hosting), and database providers. These parties are contractually bound to protect your data and not use it for other purposes.
• Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RentalNoodle, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: If RentalNoodle is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., financial records for tax purposes, which may be kept for 7 years).

Listing data sourced from third-party feeds is retained for as long as it is useful for search purposes and may be updated or deleted when the source feed no longer includes it.

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption for data in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive data, and access controls limiting who can access your information. Authentication is handled by Clerk, which maintains SOC 2 Type II certification.

Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and are not liable for unauthorized access that occurs despite our reasonable precautions.

We use the following types of cookies:

• Essential cookies: Required for authentication and session management. Cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies: Help us understand how the platform is used. We use privacy-respecting analytics. You can opt out through your browser settings.
• Advertising cookies: If you see ads on RentalNoodle (via Google AdSense), Google and its partners may use cookies to serve personalized ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or via aboutads.info. See also Google’s Privacy Policy.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging in.

• Access and portability: You can view and export your account data from your dashboard.
• Correction: Update your profile and account information at any time in your dashboard.
• Deletion: Close your account and request deletion of your data by emailing privacy@rentalnoodle.com.
• Marketing emails: Unsubscribe from saved-search alerts or marketing emails using the link in any email we send.
• California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to opt out of sale (we do not sell data), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
• EU/UK residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing. Contact us at privacy@rentalnoodle.com to exercise these rights.

RentalNoodle is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at privacy@rentalnoodle.comif you believe we have inadvertently collected a minor’s information.

Our platform may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., HUD.gov, listing sites, insurance providers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing information.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
